• The use of artificial light, such as speedlights, adds another dimension to the speed light photography equation, and mastering it is a hallmark of advanced photographers.

Aside from the obvious use of studio speed lights to augment ambient light indoors or at night, it can also be used in broad daylight to lift unflattering shadows or, for the ultimate in photographer control, used in conjunction with camera settings to act as the main light source, effectively removing ambient light from the equation.
